,The Minster Choir

We are a friendly, cheerful choir which sings at the 10.30 Eucharist on Sundays as well as on special occasions. We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music and it has taken part in RSCM events at Exeter Cathedral and at Buckfast Abbey.

The choir’s ethos is to serve the musical needs of our church community and to enjoy the work that service demands. The choir’s repertoire is wide-ranging and new members are always welcome, both from our own church community and from beyond it.

Interested? Contact me on 01404 813504 / parshallp@gmail.com or come to try it out at one of our Thursday evening rehearsals (7pm – 8pm. Entry via the Refectory door on the south-east side of the church).

The Benefice Choir

Beginning in January 2012, we are forming a Benefice Choir to lead the singing at the fifth Sunday Mission Community Services.

This group is open to those of all ranges and abilities – from those who are existing (or lapsed!) choir members, occasional singers, members of our individual congregations – to those whose performances have been, until now, limited to the bathroom. There are no auditions and no one should feel that they are “not good enough”.

Although we’re starting small, we hope that, in time, we will be able to build up a large enough pool of singers to enable us to sing the occasional Choral Evensong during the year and perhaps to contribute something during the great festivals of the Church year.

Our hope is that, in time, having a larger group of singers will enable us all to experience the riches of the choral repertoire, bot traditional and modern – music that we cannot perhaps manage in our own churches week by week. It will also, of course, become another means by which we can meet together regularly as a Mission Community.

The first fifth Sunday of 2012 will be 29th January and we will be at the Minster as a community that day. There will be a rehearsal on Thursday 26th January 2012, 7.00pm-8.00pm at the Minster.

If you are interested in being a part of this group please do get in touch (details above). Feel free to pass on the information to anyone you know who might be interested!
